Engine Mechanical problem
1993 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

car stalls for no reason when driving- starts again after sitting awhile. Seems to run better when the tank is completely full of gas but if I let it go down half way that's when it seems to stall. Is it a sensor problem? Is it possible the sensor is telling the car the tank is empty? Noone seems to be able to figure it out since the diagnostics point to so many different things. The car has only 80,000 original miles on it. If you can figure this out, I will donate accordingly.

When this happens, you mentioned that you have to wait awhile before it will restart. Tell me this. Can you hear the fuel pump kick on for a few seconds when you first turn the key on? Also, do you know how to check the engine for spark and fuel? I assure you one will be missing when it doesn't start. During the early 90's, the most common problem was the Electronic Engine Control (EEC) relay. They would go bad and shut the fuel and spark off to the engine. Thus, it would die and not restart until it cooled for awhile.

Let me know if you can check for those things or if you need directions.
