98 Ford Ranger 128000 miles 5 speed manual. I recently preformed a tune up consisting of plug replacement, plug wires. I then developed the truck shuts off when you idle at stop lights, stop signs. This will go away after the truck warms up. The check engine light came on and displayed a code of P0171 system too lean (bank 1) which references the following:

Plugs
Plug Wires
O2 Sensors (Both replaced)
Mass Flow Intake

The only thing I haven't checked for is vacuum hose leaks. (Safest way to do this?)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Hello !!

looks to me like the Mass air flow sensor its not working right (not sensing the right amount of air entering the engine and that causes a lean system)
that could be related to the work you do to the engine.. and you`re probably right: could be a vacuum leak!

check the schematic on the hood and check the hoses one by one (you should be able to hear the 'noise" of a vacuum hose disconnected...

good Luck and let us know!
