I have a 1993 Ranger with the push button 4WD. It will engage normally and function properly in high range. But Low range will not work. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks

I have the same issue with my 99 Ford Ranger XLT.
I have tried replacing the switch, checking leads and connections in the dash etc but it didn't help.

Hope I am not stepping on his toes, it's been 20 days since his posting. I'll reply about mine too if that is ok.

I place it into park, or nuetral and then click from 2W High into 4W low, I can hear the "clunk" as 4W high is engaged and the light comes on the dashboard indicating it is in 4W High. Then I click over to 4W low, no clunk, no light nothing. It stays in 4W high if I went 4W high first, or it stays in 2W High if I tried to skip over 4W high and jump straight to 4W Low.

I've asked several autoshops, and 2 dealerships what it could be and I always get a "dunno" and then a suggestion to drop it off and let them tinker. That usually costs hundreds of dollars w/o a fix. :(

Anything at this point is appreciated.

Inexplicably I tried the neutral, with brakes on from 4W high 6 times, the first 5 times it didn't work but the 6th time it did.

No idea why it wouldn't lock in the first 5 times, but it did the 6th and that is ALL I care about. THANK YOU!
