i was trying to climb some rocks without 4x4 and my truck went into third gear and will not come out. What could be wrong with it?

Does it shift out with the engine off? If not, it sounds like there is internal transmission damage or you may have hit something and damaged the linkage to the trans.

Check that out and let me know what you find.
