2000 Ford Mustang GT 70,000 mi. with 4.6 V8
My car will start and run when cold. I runs for 2 - 5 minutes then dies. It also when warming up, suddenly drops rpm's but then recovers.

Yes the check engine light has come on but not all the time. I did run a scan and it first showed that there was a "malfunction in the fuel rail circuit." It was suggested to change the fuel rail pressure sensor, didn't cure problem. I have gotten intermittent codes showing lean right bank and another time lean left bank. It now has gone back to showing "malfunction in the fuel rail circuit." While it is warming up it runs OK but it sputters every so often, then recovers but then eventually quits. It will not restart until it has been sitting for awhile. I have an automatic transmission. I have made no mods to my car. I bought it new.

I hope this helps. I'm stuck driving my winter car. (KIA Sportage) Deeeeeeeepressing.

Thank you Zordz.....

I have been stalling on that idea because of the involvement and time. I sort of like that answer because that also was my next step, but not that I want to do it.
Thanks for the verification. I feel better about trying that now.

Is the reason you suspect the fuel pump because as the pump runs it would warm-up and loose presure?

I will report the out come.

Thanks again
