This happened to my about 2 months ago, but then it hasn't happened till this week and today.

So I go to fire up my car, car starts fine no problems, but then it dies right away unless I have my foot on the gas. When it happened earlier this week I gave it about an hour and went back out and it fired up fine and the idle was fine. But now, it starts and the RPMs go up then fall to zero unless I have my foot on the gas. Then it fine until I let go.

I have searched other forums and the general consensus is the IAC, but I'm not a mechanic so who knows.

Thanks for all your help.

IAC would be my guess seing when the foot is on the throttle that it is good.

Does it do it even after car is warmed up or just when cold?

I tried to keep it running today and it was still doing it after it warmed up. But it is funny, I can have the car running for 10 mins and then let go of the pedal and it dies, and when I start it back up, it is fine.

Hope that helps.

Thanks

Take off your IAC and clean it, make sure its tight and wires are properly connected.

Also clean out the throttle body.
