Engine Performance problem
2001 Ford Focus 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 100k miles

2001 ford focus thats no dealer can seem to fix 3 different dealers and no problem found runs fine all year until the weather gets 85 or so and the humidity gets to high then I can drive it maybe an hour, then its starts off like this hesitation, after a few more miles its begins to get worse, meaning you cant hardly step on the gas, cant get up small hills, then check engine light comes on blinks for abit light goes solid car stall shuts off, at that point its usless to try to start it again for atleast 20 minutes couse it only turns over, after the 20 mintues or so it will start again and run rough, but only for like another 20 minutes then im back to stalling again, take into acount it only does this when the weather gets to warm out, im thinking something is over heating and shutting down, any ideas? The car temp never moves ford gives me same story they can replace 1500$worth of crap but doesnt mean the problems fixed, maybe 4 times a year this affects me but its time to try to get it fixed not live with it please any ideas would be great thanks

Hello,

What do you mean by the " œcar temp never moves'? It doesn't work at all, ever, no matter what the conditions are?
Also, what code(s) came up for your engine light?

When I say car temp doesnt go up I mean the car is not over heating"all the gages work fine but something must be over heating for it to only happen on hot humid days, I took it to the autoparts store and they scaned for codes and a missfire code was detected they didnt tell me the code number just that a missfire was detected, witch to me doesnt seem to help couse that could be from trying to push on the gas when its hesitating, again this only happens to the car when the weather gets to hot, anything over 85 otherwise car runs fine, and im like 99% sure its something electric, or some dumb sensor thats over heating cousing it to hesitate, and eventually stall, worse part is its done this sense the car had 25k on it and no dealer would cover fixing it or even has a clue whats wrong all I got from them was they could replace tons of sensors fuel pump, ect. And not sure if it would fix it all at my cost, figured no way only happens when its hot ill live with it well its left me walking 3 times no ive had enough lol

It would help to know the exact code: P0300/P0301/P0302/P0303/P0304. Go back to the autopart store and ask them to give you the exact code(s).

If you have a fuel pressure tester and spark tester, leave them in your car and when it shuts off, try determining what's missing: spark or fuel. Once we know which one is missing we can start digging a little deeper.

If you're not sure how to do that, look for a reputable shop in town. Forget these dealers you went to; they should be able to find the problem (or at least narrow down the possibilities) but choose to 'shotgun' parts at your car instead; that's not right!
