Have you tried taking off and cleaning the idle control valve? It can cause irratic running (revving on its own) and can cause the car to cut out. Sometimes u need to buy a new one but they are expensive so its better to try to clean it first with a bit of brake or electrical cleaner.

Check hose from the PCV valve to the intake. Check while running. Over time they will collapse and leak. They will set a code and do just what you car is doing. My zx5 was doing the same thing, replaced hose and fixed problem.
