I replaced the fuel filter on my 2002 F150 and now it won't start. No fuel is leaking, and when I turn the key, the light indicating the fuel cap is off comes on.

The fuel cap isn't off.
Any ideas?

The light is not for the fuel cap, .. Specifically. It means the Engine Computer has detected a problem and set a diagnostic fault code in memory. That code will lead you to the circuit or system with the problem, not necessarily the defective part.

While changing the fuel filter, I had the hood popped to release the pressure via the Schrader valve on the engine. I noticed some corrosion on the battery terminals and poured a little classic coke on them to work it's magic while I was under the truck. Apparently the gunk built up on them was completing the connection it needed to run.( A lot of you are probably cringing at the neglect.) It won't happen again.
After about 2 hours of constant- baking soda and water scrubs with a toothbrush, I was able to get the connections off and clean them thoroughly. Now they look brand new and everything is running smoothly.
Better actually.
