I'm not sure I understand your question entirely. A fuel pump installed in a vehicle should only pump fuel at all times. Water is very detrimental to a vehicle since water can not be compressed inside the combustion chamber causing hydro lock and possibly destroying the engine. Now, a fuel pump doesn't necessarily know its pumping fuel. Its just sucking up whatever liquid is in the gas tank. If it happens to be water inside the gas tank for some reason, then it will suck up the water and cause major problems to your engine.

Thanks for your reply. I am wanting to pump water into a device which divides H2O into three separate molecules, two free Hydrogen molecules and one Oxygen molecule. It will then burn in the cylinders.

I don't see why it would be a problem if you're using it for another use other than a conventional vehicle. Its funny how H2O is water, but separate the hydrogen and the oxygen molecules and each one individually becomes flammable. Science lol.

The one thing you didn't mention is the fuel pump needs the fuel to lubricate
it's parts. So I would say you didn't answer the question?

I believe I did answer your question. You asked a very basic and vague question. Can a fuel pump, pump water. Yes it can. How long can you continue doing it is a different scenario. You will probably deal with corrosion in the long run and the fuel pump needs to be kept cool somehow. That information, I do not know without trying it myself. But for your original basic question, I did answer it. I'm sorry for any inconvenience but I am not inter for refunding your donation. Please use the contact us at the bottom of the page.

They sell pumps specifically for water that you can purchase and use. I'm sorry if the answer wasn't up to your standards and you may most certainly contact the owner of the website to ask for a refund if you feel the need. I just ask that next time, you give us all information up front instead of an 11 word question thats vague. Thanks.
