Air Conditioning problem
2002 Ford F150 V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

My 2002 Ford F150 has a problem with the a/c. When I am cruising down the highway the a/c works fine, but when I accelerate the fan cuts out. When I resume to the cruising speed the blower comes back on.

Have you checked for loose or bad connections to the blower motor? Also, do all the speed settings work?

Let me know.

All connections are good and all the speeds work fine.
When the pickup is just sitting and idling everything works fine. When I hit the accelerator the fan cuts off and sometimes will go into the defrost mode by itself.

Okay, I missunderstood. I thought the fan shut off. If that is the case, you are looking for a vacuum leak. The vent doors are actuated by vacuum. WHen you accellerate, intake vacuum drops. If you have a leak, the default for air flow is the defroster.

Check both under the dash and the hood for leaks. With the engine running, you may get lucky and hear a hissing sound from the leak.

Let me know what you find.
