4 Speed Manual Transmission w/ granny gear

I just have a question about the transmission. I've noticed that when I'm on the highway with this truck, just to keep up with traffic, the engine is screaming in 4th gear. I was wondering what I could do about this? Can I put a 5-speed in this truck, or would that involve changing alot of other parts?

You could put a ford ZF or a mazda M5OD (both five speeds) into your truck with almost no modification. The driveline length might need to be changed, and if you don't have a hydraulic clutch, you would need to switch to that type of system. The ZF transmission is better. The synchros don't wear out as quickly.
