Drive Train Axles Bearings problem
1992 Ford Explorer Four Wheel Drive Manual 165000 miles

I just aquired a 1992 Ford Explorer and the four wheel drive does not function. Both of the buttons that control hi/lo range and 4 wheel drive do nothing when pressed nor do the indicator lights function. Could you please steer me in the right direction to figure out what the problem could be?

Ok in the back of the truck on the drivers side there is a door to remove where the jack is. There is also a 4x4 control module back there (see pic). Now what you do is remove the 5 and 8 pin connectors from the module. Now there is a self test button on it to. Now turn key on engine off and activate the self test button. If the light blinks then the module is good and we need to look elsewhere. If the light stays on or don't come on then that module is bad and needs to be replaced. I would buy one from a wrecking or salvage yard. Let me know what you find.
