Today the car was driving fine and went into 4wd low without turning the switch to that gear. The switch is on 2wd but the light shows it's in 4wd low.

Check the actuator plug on the transfer case. Make sure nothing is shorted.

I fixed it by placing the car in neutral and turning the knob from 2wd to 4wd low and back to 2wd and the 4wdl low light went off and it was in 2ws drive again.

I will keep an eye on this "actuator short" as a potential chronic cause. Thansk again for your help.

I'm glad it's working again. However, the only thing I can think of that would have caused it to shift into low gear would be a short or a bad actuator motor.

If it happens again, let me know. Just come back to this post and I will receive it in my email. That way I'll get to it quickly.
