Brake light on
I have a 98 Ford Expedition with about 74,000 miles.
Yesterday the brake light with the circle exclamation point under it came on. I jsut got this truck in June of this year and it was serviced before I purchased it.
This morning I could not really stop. I have to push the brake all the way to the floor and then it doesn't stop it slows down adn finally stops when the car has slowed down enough to just stop. I don't hear any rubbing or squeaking like the brake pad are bad.
Is this a problem with brake pads or a problem with the brakes themselves. :(

Check the brake fluid in the resevoir. I suspect it is low and thus indicates a leak. See if there is any fluid around the master cyliinder both in the engine well on the firewall and on the inside of the car. Could be you master cylinder that is failing.
