1992 Ford Escort parking brake warning light

I have an 1992 Ford escort LXE. When the vehicle is in park or when I am driving the park brake warning light stays on. I try adjusting the part brake cable itself but the light stays on. However, I did notice the when the hand brake is down the warning light becomes dimmer.

I had the same problem with my 91 escort and found that it was because I was low on break fluid.

Thanks for you answer but the brake fluid is good in the vehicle. Its just the right side that failed the brake test here in Germany and the light v=stays on as well.
