Hello,
I have a ford crown vic police interceptor 4.6 liter and yesterday after idling for ten minutes I got in to go out and "pop" it sounded like a piece of the exhaust manifold blew out but it is on the top of the motor under the injector frame bars blowing out of a hole. I think it is a sensor as it was a 1.5 inch rubber hose with a spring in it. Help what is on the top of the motor that you could hear the exhaust so loudly with it gone thank you mark

You have more than likely blown a spark plug out of the head. The piece you describe is probably the coil boot that goes over the spark plug. Look under the little bar you described and you will probably see an open hole.

It some type of lubricator or sensor. The car is a police interceptor not a reg crownvic. Thanks anyway.

I work on the CVPI every day. Can you post a picture of the part? Does it look anything like one of these?

Way2old you rock I was listening to my brother and the first time I looked at it today I saw the part hanging out and when I removed the bolt the hole was exposed the bolt was only tightened about 1/4 inch which is why it failed I assume. Thank you again mark
