how do you replace an alternater for a '98 ford contour?

1.Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove 4 intake air resonator bolts and clamp. Raise resonator and disconnect vacuum line. Remove resonator. Disconnect wiring from generator. Disconnect ground strap from engine lift bracket, near fuel pressure regulator. Raise and support vehicle. Remove radiator splash shield. Remove right front wheel.

2.Remove right wheel housing splash shield. Remove accessory drive belt. Remove lower generator bolts and lower vehicle. Remove upper generator bolt and remove generator. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten wheel lug nuts to 63 ft. lbs. (85 Nm). Tighten splash shield to 21 ft. lbs. (28 Nm). Tighten the 2 generator brace bolts to 33 ft. lbs. (45 Nm). Tighten the castellated nut to 21 ft. lbs. (28 Nm).
