my oil pressure gauge came up about half way then dropped off and is not coming back up,
is it possible that my system has frozen?
I did heat the truck up in garage and for a while it would come back but once the cold air hits it drops off.

Hi:
Is there any knocking or tapping coming from the engine? If not, it sounds like a bad oil sending unit. It will be located near the oil filter and is a cheap and easy repair. That is where I recommend you start. Also, I am assuming the oil level is full.

Let me know if this helps.

Anthony here, It only taps when oil guage frops to 0, sounds like 1 lifter. Unfortunately money is tight and I hope buy getting an oil change might help, because for a few days the oil pressure came back and this morning coming home it dropped down again.

Try an oil change, but I strongly recommend having the pressure tested with a gauge. What they do is remove the oil sending unit and screw in a pressure gauge. If the pressure is dropping too low, you don't want to cause internal damage to the engine.

Have it checked. It may save you a lot of money, or you may find out the oil sending unit is bad. Regardless, even though there is only one tapping lifter, it tells me the pressure is dropping. Make sure it's not dropping too low.

Let me know what you find.
