Electrical problem
1978 Other Dodge Models V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

my ballast resistor gets so hot my car shuts off wait a few minnits and it will run again how cant i fiks this

try another ballast resister. If you still have the problem follow the wire going to the distributor to see if it's shorting out against the block or grounding someplace.

i have done dat it stil gets 90 c

the only other ting i can thik of is when the car shuts off, see if there is still voltage going TO the resistor. Or put a spacer behind the resistor, like two small washers so it can get better air circulation . they are goign to get hot anyhow due to it being a resistor.

i have chekt all cabels cleant them and at first it was 140 temp and now 90 the truck is driving better and has not shut off the future will tel my engelis is not zo good i am sorry
