2007 Dodge Durango V8 Four Wheel Drive 44400 miles

I have only had this vehicle about 2 weeks and really like it but about 3 times it has done something strange. When I had slowed down and was almost stopped but not quite, it made a clunk noise and felt like the brakes locked up for just a split second, then it was fine. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

That clunk sounds like a u joint or front cv joints. It may have some "play" in it. Causing the clunk during the downshift, I would also check the mounts, just for good measure a bad one will make that clunk too. When the engine or tranny torques during a down shift

The vehicle is in the shop right now for an engine light that came on after it started jerking while I was driving it. I will have them check the things that you suggested. I hope this is not a sign of things to come! Thanks alot!

Ok good, the jerking could of been a couple of things, egr, mapp sensor, a fuel problem. Make sure you tell them to contact you before doing anything, otherwise they will tally up something fierce for a price and expect you to pay for it.

The dealer agreed to fix the problem with the engine light. It was a camshaft sensor/valve. They said the other problem, the clunk on downshift, was related to that problem. Is that possible?
