Check gauges light?

Chek gages lite keeps coming on ---oil is changed regularly engine in great cond considering mileage according to 2 mechanics. Just had transmission repaired, thermostat replaced and radiator flushed hoses and cap replaced no more leaks. Oil differential was also changed about six weeks ago. It appears as though the engine is not cooling although the temp gage inside the car does not always indicate this.

The check gauges light means that one of the gauges is showing an issue. So we need to know what gauge appears to not be in the proper range.

Most of the time it is the oil pressure light that causes this to come on. If that is the case, here is a guide that will help with this:

Also, the other common cause is the coolant temp. If the engine appears to be overheating the we need to find out if the gauge is operating properly if it is not showing this.

Lastly there is a rare time that all gauges are reading properly but the light still comes on. This is normally caused by low battery voltage. So we need to load test the battery and find make sure it is properly charged. Here is a guide that explains this:
