Engine Mechanical problem
1999 Dodge Durango Automatic 111248 miles

my s.U.V. Won't stay turned on. It dies immediately after the initial start. As soon as I turn the key the engine turns on but will die right after. If I press the accellerator immediately after I turn the key, the engine will keep revving but as soon as I depres the accellerator, the engine dies. The radio works fine though so i'm assuming the battery is ok. What could be the problem?

The causes of this are endless but I would first check the idle air control valve. This valve is used to control the idle. If you lightly press the throttle will the truck start and continue to run ok?

This usually means the idle air control valve is not working. Try cleaning it and clean the iac

I had this problem with my 99 durango. The PCM was faulty causing a po505 idle air malfunction. Also could lead to intake manifold leak. I would have this checked by a certified technician.
