Electrical problem V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic 135000 miles

Our durango stalls while driving. Could be 30 miles down the road, or 3. With AC on, or without. It is very inconsistent. A friend who works at the dealer said its something to do with the computer. Which is very expensive. We replaced a clip that holds the wires together on the passenger side. It worked for a few days. Stalled. We installed a fan and cut a hole to let air flow through. Stalls. We have only had it for two months. Just noticed the car salesmen put the wrong size battery in it too. Meant for a small car. Would this have anything to do with it? I've heard this is a notorious problem. People have replaced the crank sensor, pcm, even the entire computer itself. Where do I even begin.

Hi, First I'd check The Computer For codes, write them down if there are any. Then I'd Check the fuel Pressure. It may have A bad fuel pump? It's common on these trucks.
There is away for the mechanic to tape the fuel gauge to the glass and drive the car. To see if it's a fuel problem or computer problem.

Hope This Helps You,
Good Luck

I had a 98 and it too had the wrong battery installed. It ran like that for a while till the cables corroded. Then it started doing what you decribed. I had to keep one foot on the brake and one on the gas all the time to keep the rpms up at stop signs. I bought the right size battery and a new cables and It hasent winked since.

We have an 1999 SRT 4X4 Durango. When it crossed over 100,000 miles we started having the engine stall problem and experienced the NO BUS error. We went through many mechanics to no avail so I found a rebuilt computer for $199 on the internet. It was easy to change out and we have not had a recurrence of the problem for the last 35,000 miles. Problem solved!
