Engine Performance problem
1996 Dodge Dakota 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

symptoms
eratic idle or miss, sometimes pops back through the intake when cranking. Could this be caused by egr or iac, plugs, wires cap are all good, no crossfire between wires. Also bad fuel mileage. Connected scanner and only codes were #3 misfire and multiple misfire. Does 1996 dakota v6 even have an egr valve?

Engine misfires can be caused by worn or fouled spark plugs, a weak spark (weak coil, bad spark plug wire), loss of compression, vacuum leaks, anything that causes an unusually lean fuel mixture (lean misfire), an EGR valve that is stuck open, dirty fuel injectors, low fuel pressure, or even bad fuel.
