The car battery had gotten low, so I jump started it. Engine started fine, but when I got out to take off cables it started sputtering and cut off. Have not been able to start it since. Engine cranks fine. I noticed at first I could hear the fuel pump priming when I turned ignition switch on, but now there is no priming sound. Also noticed that fuel gauge does not register, and the low fuel symbol is on longer than the initial dash lights on check. There is a half tank of gas. I swapped out the fuel relay, it looked fine. Also checked fuses and they are good. What else can I check, and in what order? The car was just running well before this happened.

It sounds like you have a battery that has shorted out causing the electrical system to shut down. I would try this test to see if the battery passes.

and if found to be bad

Please let us know what happens.

Thanks. I know the battery has been going bad and I need to replace it. The last time I jump started it before this it started and ran fine. I didn't think with a good jumper, and cranking well, it would not run at all. Also strange that all the other dash warning/indicators will come on and go out like normal when ignition is turned on- EXCEPT the gas guage doesn't register, and the low fuel symbol and check filler cap indicator stay on while I'm cranking. All fuel related.

Yes it does sounds like you have either low fuel pressure or weak spark. Here is a couple of guides so you can do some test and get back to me.

and
