2000 Chrysler Sebring Starter?

How do I know if my starter is bad? Would the engine still crank? Its a sebring lxi. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You will hear a clicking noise when trying to crank engine. Engine WILL NOT crank at all. You can jumper starter solenoid to see if it engages. If it does chances are it is not starter at fault. You can also remove starter and have local part store test it, usually free of charge.
