When braking it feels like the front passenger wheel is shaking and knocking. I don't know if it's actually the brake or if something is loose, such as a suspension part.

Hello,

The noise could be from a lose or worn component like ball joints. It could even happen from a broker sway bar link.

Over time the bushings on the ball joints will deteriorate. When that happens you will get vibrations and noise, especially when you are applying the brake.
Check the ball joints for excessive wear:

Raise front of vehicle allowing front suspension to hang free.
Grab the tire at the top and the bottom and move the tire in and out.
Observe for any horizontal movement to the ball joints. If it appears to be loose or has a worn bushing it needs to be replaced.

I have attached diagrams for your reference.

Please let me know of any questions.

Thank you.
