hard starting

I have a 1998 chevy tahau and i have put a new battery in it and it willl not start all it will do is click ,click had the alt checked and cleaned all the cables. could it be the wrong cranking amps

sometimes when you buy a new battery, if the battery sits on the shelf awhile it'll loose some of it's charge. try jump starting it and let the vehicle run awhile so the alternator can bring the voltage up to normal.
