Engine is overheating

The two problem may not be related. If you are low on coolant it will cause this problem. When the engine has cooled down completely. Remove the radiator cap to check coolant level. Fill it up if it is low, then start the truck with the cap off and let it run till it reaches normal operating temperature and the thermostat has opened up. Make sure coolant level is still good then see is you have a leak.

If the coolant is okay then I would say the fan clutch is not working. Here is more information on the over heating problem.

my car keeps turning off and says engine coolant hot. checked for leaks none, both fans are working and A/C is fine. also, got reduced power due to over heat reading. is it the water pump or thermostat or both?

This could be a faulty temperature sensor. The best way to tell is too see what the engine temperature is when it says its hot.

Engine Cooling problem
2005 Chevy Tahoe V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

this truck belongs to a friend of mine so I don't know the mileage. He told me that the temp is going up when the engine is at idle but will cool off some when the rpms go up. I'm thinking a stuck thermostat. Saw the engine for the first time this afternoon and don't see any leaks, he says he had the truck serviced not long ago and that all fluids were checked. I looked in the res and it had a little freon in it, I could smell freon when I opened the hood, but not as much as I expected for running warm. I'm still thinking a stuck thermostat but not sure and the truck belongs to my boss - don't want to be wrong!

Check and test the thermostat and coolant level-if okay check the radiator if its clogged and water pump doing its job. also the cooing fan/s

Hi 2014 chevy tahoe. Its overheating also says change engine oil soon. Lots of smoke is coming out from all over the car. I also just charged the oil two days ago.
