1999 Chevy S-10 S 10 Fuel Gauge Not Working Properly

1999 S10 Chevy with 72,000 miles. Past couple months, Ive noticed the gas gauge never goes below half. Even when I know its near empty!
Seems to work fine, when I fill the tank. But, when gets halfway, it seems to stay in that area. Is this something easy I can fix? Thanks!

Hello

GM has a problem with their sending unit/fuel pump assemblies gumming up their quick fix is to add a cleaner to the tank GM uses Cheveron Techron if this does not fix it you may need to replace the assembly.
You may need to add a few times to clean compleately.
