I have a 1997 Chevy Cavalier, with about 100,600 miles on it. I was driving down the highway and all of a sudden my car started to slow down. I was unable to press on the gas to feed the car more gas because it wouldn't go down. All of my gages went down, and all of my service lights came on,and my car started to slow down. I turned my car off and turned it back on, but it wouldn't click over to start. I had gotten it fixed, so I thought. They changed some broken wires and replaced a couple fuses, and thought that that's what the problem was, but to only find out later that that wasn't the problem. if you have any ideas that will help to figure out the problem, please let me know. Thank You

I think it is your alternator, because if your car just suddenly quit, and your gages went down. The alternator is not working because it is not charging the battery. But if you don't think it is the alternator, you could have it checked at a auto parts place or garage. I had mine checked the other day, when I took it out. I took it to Checker Auto Parts and had them "spin" it. And it failed the test so I knew what it was.

Yes, charge the battery and then have the battery and alternator tested. A lot of the larger chain stores here in the US will provide these services free of charge.

Be sure and check out the prices and quality

Good luck and let us know. :)
