1999 Chevy Cavalier Sevice Engine Light

It has over 100,000 miles and the Service Engine Light is on and also the Oil Light to. The oil was pretty low and then topped off. It needs an oil change. But is the service light on due to the general maintence or is there a bigger problem?

Have the computer scanned for code/s-you have a problem within the engine management system that caused the CEL to turn on-This is your starting point of diagnosis, finding out what's going on.
