Car will not start

It was really cold last night, around 10 degrees. Today it tried to turn over and then rapid clicks. Boosted it off, let it run a bit shut it off and wouldn’t restart. I think it’s the battery. Would it have shut off while it was running if it was the alternator?

Hello, I'm Danny.

It could be one of two things. Either the battery is not holding a charge, Or the alternator is faulty and not charging the battery. Auto parts stores will test both for free. Here are tutorials showing how to battery load test and an alternator test:

You will need to remove the serpentine belt to remove the alternator. Here is a tutorial for that as well:
