Electrical problem
1994 Buick Regal 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

Replaced ABS/Master Cylinder unit, Powermaster III and the brake lghts are on constantly even when key is removed. Only way to run them off is to remove the fuse. Have checked power voltage and always HOT. Also Check Engine and ABS gauges are always on. Does anyone have any ideas on how this could be happening?

You may have several different problems? As far as your brake lites can you tell if the brake switch is ok? It should be close to the arm for the brake pedal, there should be a button that is depressed when you step on the brake, the button should release when you release the pedal. The partsbook shows two wire connector at the switch, with the pedal released, one wire is hot, the other isn't. If both wires are hot, with the pedal released, you may have a problem with the switch. Does the highmount brake lite stay on, also?

If the CEL stays on with the engine running and your obd 1, 12 pin data link connector, you can check for troublecodes yourself. Connector a jumper between the A&B terminals, turn on the key, don't crank it, the cel should start flashing, you count the flashes to get the codes.

Thank you I will check the pedal switch. Yes the highmount light stays on as well.

I have a home manual and will also check the CEL flashes. Could you also tell me the procedure as how to clear the OBD?

Your manual should tell you how to erase the codes. I'd take the ecm fuse out for several seconds or take the battery cable loose.
