Six cylinder front wheel drive automatic.
A/C blows hot, compressor does not come on. Clutch does turn by hand with slight resistance. How do I test compressor and can it be done directly through the battery?

In the Park Ave, and related cars, Bonneville, etc, including all mid 1990 GM cars. The blend door is thirty minute job. You get behind the glove box by squeezing the sides of the glove box so it will pull out past the stops and there it is sitting right there on top of the plenum. It takes a 4.5 or 5.5mm socket to get the bolts off that hold it, but it is not an eight or nine hour job, maybe that is what shops charge everyone but you know and I know its a thirty to forty five minute job tops. Some cars like some Ford's are a bear, the whole dash has to come out but the GM cars are not them.

I would see if the system has Freon in it. Here is a guide:

Please let us know what you find.
