I have a Denali, I converted the stereo system to a 2003 model in order to put in a double din touch screen. I wired up everything with the harness I was told would certainly work for the Bose system. I hooked up the system and it work for ten minutes. I thought at first it was the double din, but once I took it out and put the factor Bose system back in it also did not operate. I checked the fuse under the hood and also the side panel and they are all good. Also once plugging my climate controls back in the dapper is not operating properly anymore and will only blow out are through the defrost vents. My fuel display is also not operating as well. I am really confused on what to do and how all this happened at once. Is there a relay somewhere I missed or how where else can I look to see if it is getting direct power?

Welcome to the modern factory stereo system. Both of those radios are VIN number coded. The BCM interrogates the stereo for information, if the numbers it gives back are incorrect it sets off the security lock in the stereo. It also can corrupt the programming in the ECM and BCM because it is a GM unit and it also stores information about the vehicle it came out of.

To correct it you need a factory scan tool, with it and a code from GM you can re-write the VIN information and re-flash the computers to make things work. You will need to take it to a dealer to have things changed, even then the stereo may not function if it was not an option for the 2002 model year.
