Hello, I just recently put new spark plugs, and wires, and could packs. Then I needed a radiator. It ran great for a week. Since it's been cold. I couldn't get it started. The fuel pump comes on. But after I changed anything it started smoking and eventually went away. I have a video I'll post. So a crank no start.

Just to be clear, you had all that smoke and when the smoke stopped it would not restart? Now it is a crank no start?

If that is the case then we need to start with a compression check. I am thinking that the vehicle was overheating and now it has warped the head and caused the loss of compression. So let's follow this guide and find out if that is the case:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-test-engine-compression

If the compression is ok then we need to start checking for spark and fuel because those are the only other two things you need to start the engine. Here is a guide that will help with this:

Let us know what you find and we can go from there. Thanks

No, it stopped smoking and ran for 5 or 6 days. I know I have spark and fuel. One thing I forgot to mention. My coil pack bolt. The top broke off. So I'm thinking the coil pack is letting air get in. Because I pulled the coil pack and tried another and it started but shut off.

My main relay I think is bad, I tested the continuity and there none. There are 4 prongs I looked up the electrical diagram which follows c to d then the bottom a to b. So can I use a jumper wire to try to start it?

Okay. Does the relay click when you turn the key to the on position?

Here is a guide on how to test it to be sure:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-an-electrical-relay-and-wiring-control-circuit

Also, I attached the test for the relay from the manual. Basically it just wants you to touch it and see if it clicks when turning the key. If it does not, I would replace it or swap it with another just to see if it is the relay.

Let me know what you find with this. Thanks

Yes. You can jump this relay by jumping the power terminal to the output terminal.

I showed this on the diagram attached. Let's just make sure you have power on the black and blue wire that I put the question mark next too. If you don't have power on that wire then the relay will not close. You should have power there in the run position.

Let me know what you find. Thanks

Thank you, but I manage to start the car. And everything is fine except to started smoking from my front of my exhaust coming out of the hood area. It did smell like gas or rotten something. I'm gonna try to take the manifold off and replace the gasket and I know you have to take the cat off with it. Because I want to see if it's clogged or something.

I pulled the manifold and the catalytic converter off the gasket going to the exhaust was cracked. I'm soaking the exhaust manifold and cleaning it so I can put it back together.

Sounds great. Thanks for the updates. Since you were able to get it started, we are going to need to get a new post started if you need help with these since it is a new issue. We need to keep each post to one topic just so that others can find the answers if they have the same issue.

If you are jumping the relay, you want to install the jumper with the key off, then turn the key to the start position. Or you can test the R10 position shown below for voltage with the relay installed when starting to see if you have voltage. If you have voltage on the R10 then the relay is working.

So I bought a new main relay and 60 amp fuse for ignition. Actually put all new fuses in both boxes. It started but I had to turn it off it was making a weird noise like the belt blew, but I checked and they didn't. And it was smoking coming out of my grille. So I shut it off. So I'm stumped!

So, I just found out that it's a head gasket leak. And oil is going into to the catalytic converter and tons of white smoke is pouring out the bottom of the engine. So I need step by step how to take it off. Especially timing belt and valves etc.

That is great that you found it but we need to refer back to my first response and make sure the head is not warped. If the head is warped it would have pushed the head gasket out and if you just replace it, it will fail again. Take a straight edge when you have the head off and put it across the head and make sure you can't see light under the straight edge.

Here is the process from the manual on the head gasket. Let us know if you need more detail.

So I'm getting ready. My gasket set comes tomorrow. So I just want to make sure I have the timing belt and the camshaft. What thrust clearance? And do I need any special tools for the job? And I want to say thank you for all your help and support.
