Shift cable replacement instructions

Will not go into 1st or 2nd gear but goes into 3rd 4th and 5th and reverse just fine. Starts out in third from a dead stop. While in gear the shifter does not really lock in. It can slide side to side while moving. Weird. What do you think is the problem? Do I need a new transmission or what?

More than likely this is a shift cable issue but it could also be a clutch issue. So here are some guides that will help with this:
