You need to diagnose the problem and locate the source before taking anyu action. You have already wasted so much time and money on it because of guessing.

The transmission would not take too much fluid at one go. You need to fill some, start engine, shift through gears, check level and top up again.

What was the initial problem for you to replace those parts?

Sounds like the vent to the trans is plugged or onen of the things you replaced like the valve body may bewrong. It may be full as well. Besides it only takes 9.5 qts to fill it anyhow. Before you pull the trans, have a trans guy run a scan on it, it may be an electrical problem or one of the clutch failed. Why did you start doing this stuff anyhow?

If the check engine light is on, have the computer scanned to identify possible transmission trouble codes. Other than that, you need to make sure the fluid is clean and full. Also, trans pressure will need checked to see if that is an issue. A trans tech will need to check that for you.

My vehicle runs fine for like two minutes, then it will not go into gear. I turned it off and unplugged the battery and reconnect it and it runs fine for a few minutes. If you try to shift to another gear the transmission will not respond. I have to unplug battery, reconnect and start again.

Here is a link to an article that features written step by step instructions and pictures explaining how to do the scan yourself, also I have included a link to our YouTube channel with a how to video on code scanning. Most scanners are inexpensive to purchase, you can purchase one from Amazon.com. Once you have the codes please get back to us so that we can further assist you. Thank you for visiting 2CarPros.

My 2002 ford explorer 4x4, 4.6 litre engine. Has a bad computer for the four wheel drive. I removed it to get the numbers off of the case.
After I put the old oneit back on it won't go into any gear.I did not disconnect the battery cable when I took off the computer and put it back in. Will this be solved when I get the new Computer? Please help as I am stranded!

This might sound simple, but try disconnecting your battery for about 3 to 5 minutes. This sometimes resets your computer.

Disconnect the battery and let it set for about 5 to 10 minutes I had that same problem a couple years back so it will probably work for you to.
