Car won't stay running

I replaced a water pump on a 2007 dodge nitro and now when i start it i have to stay on the gas to keep it running. what would cause that

Recheck to make sure you didn't leave any vacuum hoses disconnected or damaged. Also, make sure the idle air control valve is connected at the throttle body. If there is a check engine light coming on, have the computer scanned to identify where the problem is coming from. Most parts stores will do it for free.
