Hit Pothole & Now Making A Thumping Noise

Yesterday afternoon I hit a pothole with the front passenger side tire and my car and it immediately started making a loud, ongoing thumping noise. The noise sounds like it's coming from below the passenger seat and I'd describe it as a metallic sounding thump at a rate of more than one thump per second. It starts as soon as I turn on the engine and it stops a few seconds after I turn the engine off. The vehicle does not need to me in motion for the noise to occur.

Does anybody have an idea of what I might have damaged on my car? Is it safe to drive about 10 miles to the mechanic or would that cause further damage?
