2004 Pontiac Vibe air conditioner

My compressor is gone in my vibe, how do I change it I have purchased a new one, I do not want to lose my coolant, how do I save it or can someone help as it is getting hot outside without air. Can I change it or not. So can someone help

First your system needs to be discharged into a recyclable container. Then you have to pull the bolt that the lines connect to and cap the lines so they don't get dirt or moisture in them. Disconnect electrical then you have to pull belt off and remove top bolts. Then remove splash shields under front of ar to gain access to compressor. Remove bottom bolts and pull compressor through bottom. Then reverse for reassy. Make sure that new compressor has same amount of oil as old one and the correct type GM 12378526 part number. Or pag oil otherwise new compressor will blow up. Then after reassy, it MUST be evacuated before recharging.
