While driving and pulling into a parking spot my Power steering all of a sudden locked up and it Was hard to turn the wheel. My car is on working Fine. I tried to see if it was my cruise control but That wasn't the issue. My drive to my destination Was fine. The steering wheel worked fine. What are Some possible things I can do to figure out this Problem? Is it going to be expensive? I just got this Vehicle and I know almost close to nothing about It.

Hello,

This could be a sign of a failing power steering pump. Another possibility is that the belt could be slipping.
If the belt slips or the pump fails, it will not provide assistance to the power steering. Which will make it difficult to turn, especially when at low speed.
Are you noticing any noise while turning? Many times, the power steering pump will make a whining noise when it is failing. Also, you want to make sure that the fluid is at the correct level and in good condition.

Also look for any glazing and wear on the serpentine belt. Worn belt can slip on the pulley as well as a belt that is glazed due to exposure to excessive heat.

I have attached diagrams for your reference.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you.
