Hi,
I have a 2003 Grand Marquis with manual climate control. The temperature control switch (middle switch) is not working and seems to be in the A/C mode. When I turn it to the heat mode I still get cold air. How do I attack this culprit?
All responses greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Jan

The heat in that vehicle is controlled by a blend door that regulates heated air flow. It is operated by an electric motor/actuator. The problem can be that the actuator is stripped or inoperative or the door itself could be damaged. This is what needs to be determined by examining the actuator and see if it is responding to heat change commands or not.

Hi,

Interesting! I do not hear the door moving as I did before so I think you're right on.
Now with my model, Mercury Grand Marquis, how to I began to attack the repair. Is the actuator inside under the dash board? Any videos on my model auto?

Thank you very much.

This may not be a job for you. It is located on the top of the HVAC housing and requires removing the dash to access it.
