Is there a filter I can change to get rid of that smell when the AC is first turned on?

Sadly no, Just try and stay away from other peoples exhausts when you drive. Leave a little bit more room and also use Max A/C instead of Normal A/C. I've had my Marquis for 12 years and runs like the day we bought it but that continues to bother me a bit. No Cabin filter in the Marquis.

FIND "RE-CIRCULATION INTAKE" VENT FOR UNIT....(WHERE THE HVAC BOX S.UCKS THE VEHICLE'S INSIDE AIR BACK IN)

BLAST A CAN OF "LYSOL" INTO IT

WHILE THE BLOWER MOTOR FAN IS RUNNING---LOW SPEED WILL INSURE THE FOG HAS MORE TIME INSIDE THE SYSTEM

EITHER LET IT ALL COME OUT THE VENTS AT ONCE OR OPEN THEM ONE AT A TIME

OPEN AS MANY INTERNAL A/C DOORS AS POSSIBLE, BY CHANGING CONTROL SETTINGS TO GET GOOD OVERALL INTERNAL SYSTEM COVERAGE
