I drove for about 30 mins then stopped to get gas. After I got gas and started to drive I noticed the car started to shift hard then put in to reverse it shifted really hard and the wrench light came on. After about 30 mins of having the car off, the wrench went away and car is ok as of now. Could it be the output shaft speed sensor? Or any other ideas?

Just to add to this one have the computer scanned for codes you most likely have a code P1811. The most common reason for hard shifts on that car is a bad line pressure solenoid really common on those cars.I have replaced a ton of them on that car. There is even a bulletin for it. Let me know what you find.

Now when I started the car back up the wrench and ses light went away when I went to lunch the car does seem to be ok now. I'll have to wait till it happens again but was thinking of getting the oss sensor anyway since it's only 15.00 bucks and easy to change

A bad line pressure solenoid will come and go like your car is doing I have reppaced a ton of them for hard shifting. Scan the car for codes dont wait for the it to happen again also dont waste your money on a output speed sensor.I cant remember the last time I replaced one of those.I have replaced a few of the input soeed sensors and you have to rmove the valve body to replace those not fun. Just get the codes and we will go from there. For like 19 you can buy a code reader on amazon which is only a few dollars more you would waste on a part that is highly unlikely your problem.

We dont know if the solenoid is bad yet but its located in the side of the transmission valve body. Under the transmission side cover.
