I have a 2001 neon that has a slight knock in the engine when started after being off, during idle, and knock worse with the AC on. The car also shakes from time to time after a moderate drive, but not consistently. What could these problems mean? A friend has same model car with same problems and said the mechanic claimed the number 2 cylinder was the problem. What are your thoughts and advice?

Scan for codes first and check fuelpressure then see if you can find which cylinder is knocking.

Thanks for the timely response. So the lack of fuel pressure will mean it is a cylinder problem or something else? Also, if it is a cylinder how many labor hrs comes with that? Is it a job that can be done in a day?

It really depends on what is wrong before I could answer that, if it's a fuel pump it should be done in a day. But if something serious hard telling how long
