My dakota is a 3.9.....ok one day it starts running terrible like its not taking any gas and back fires a little when i try giving it gas to go. Had this problem once and replaced the upstream o2 sensor and it went away but the check engine light had never came on. Now the problem is back but worse and now i got a check engine light with both o2 sensor codes, replaced both of them twice and codes still come back and truck still runs like poorly, no change....please help, and I have to do this myself no money for shop. Thanks.

Hello,

One thing to remember is that many times the oxygen sensor codes can be due to faulty wiring for the sensors or other components.
Running rich or lean can be created by any number of components.
Could be due to faulty oxygen sensor, defective ECU, mass air flow sensor, open injectors etc.

Can you tell me the code that you are getting?
This can help identify the issue.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you.
