Car running hot

I have a 1999 pontica grand am the coolant has been disaperring I had the themstast replace its still doing the same thing this morning I add water started car to go to work on the way it start to run hot pulled over checked coolant it was still in tank wait for a few check coolant again it was empty add more. Car temp. Went to 200 drove for 2 min went to hot stop again add more water it was like the car was drinking it keep leaving out coolant tank, wait 10 min add water put cap on crank car an temp. Was 100. What is going on with my car?

You did not say if you noticed any leaks or wet spots on the ground. There could be a couple problems. It could be a circulating problem where there is a circulation blockage. Air circulation going through the radiator is clogged causing it to overheat, A head gasket could be blown. Do a pressure check on the system. Most Automotive retailers have kits to borrow to do one. Or you can go to a garage and have one done. You did not say anything about any smoke coming from the exhaust. If there is white smoke could mean internal problems. When you say you added water was it just the overflow or the radiator and overflow?
